The event organized by the Actuarial society of Türkiye, which will address topics such as Modeling, Catastrophic Risks, and Climate Impacts, will be held on October 22, 2024, at Wyndham Grand Istanbul Kalamış Marina Hotel at 13:00.
The event will feature guest speakers such as Prof. Dr. Hansjoerg Albrecher, Head of the Department of Actuarial Science at Lausanne University and an academically renowned figure in the field of actuarial science. Additionally, Erdem Karabostan, General Manager of T-Rupt, and Aren Haddeler, Co-Founder of Lumnion, representing the supporting organizations, will also take part.
The event will cover topics such as pooling climate change and natural disaster risks, the Turkey earthquake model, and dynamic pricing and optimization. A setting for interaction between participants and speakers will be created, and the event will continue with a reception after the program.

Prof. Dr. Hansjoerg Albrecher
Prof. Hansjoerg Albrecher holds a professorship at the Department of Actuarial Mathematics at Lausanne University. He is a renowned speaker at leading conferences and meetings in the field of insurance and actuarial science. With numerous academic publications, Prof. Albrecher serves as an editor for top journals and has worked on a wide range of models related to risk management in insurance and finance. His recent research focuses on modeling stochastic uncertainties in indexed reinsurance treaties and probabilistic models related to blockchain mining returns under insolvency risk.
Erdem Karabostan
Erdem Karabostan began his career as an assistant inspector at Anadolu Sigorta. Throughout his tenure at the Inspection Board, he actively participated in and led audit teams for internal audits and investigations. He has worked as a project manager and business analyst in various projects, including insurance accounting and financial systems, legal and compliance systems, reinsurance, claims, and identity and access management. Karabostan later became the deputy director and head of business solutions and led teams of business analysts and test specialists. After joining Turkish Reinsurance in 2019 as Deputy General Manager responsible for IT, HR, Claims, Catastrophic Modeling, Legal, and Risk Engineering, he became General Manager of T-Rupt in 2023.
Aren Haddeler
Aren Haddeler, who holds an MBA in Computer Engineering, began his career as a software development consultant at KoçSistem in 2007. In 2010, he joined Akbank as assistant manager of data mining, responsible for analytics, optimization, machine learning, and AI-based projects. He was appointed as Director of Retail Analytics at Akbank in 2015. Since 2017, Haddeler has been a co-founder of Lumnion, where he oversees all analytical consulting and the development of AI-based risk modeling products.
